The next Chinese New Year will be the year of the Dragon, an auspicious year in the Chinese calendar. We are celebrating this new year with a Members’ Night on the 11th day of the Chinese New Year, i.e. on 2 February 2012 (Thursday), in Singapore Polytechnic Graduate Guild House Carnation Room level 3. Please click here to view the venue on map. We promise that this is going to be an exciting night for our members.
We will have a talk by Dr. Javan Tan on ‘Exploring a self-reorganizing neuro-fuzzy model for financial computational modeling’. Details of the talk is attached in this email. Dr. Javan Tan received the B.Accountancy degree (first class) as a Nanyang Business Scholar from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, in 2003, where he later worked towards the Ph.D. degree in computer engineering. His current topics of interests include enterprise risk management, project risk management, computational finance, financial time-series analysis, soft computing, and online neural systems. He is currently working as a senior developer in mobile and cloud services.
There will be a buffet meal for the night, and the speaker will stay on with us for more interaction. We will include some vegetarian food in the buffet. On top of the excitement, each participant (member or non-member) will have a chance in the sure-win Hong Bao Lucky Draw. Each Hong Bao contains $10 cash and a POPULAR voucher ranging from $10 to $50. There is however, a registration fee of $10 for each member. Each member may also bring one non-member guest by paying a $30 registration for the guest. We will also announce the winners of the 2011 Best Student Paper Awards at the Members’ Night. Two bowling lanes are available on member's night and sponsored by PREMIA.
Please note that the number of participants for the night is limited to 60 due to the space constraint. So please register and pay the registration fee early to avoid disappointment. The online registration will close on 31 Jan. 2012. However, the registration may close earlier if the quota of registration is reached.
