The Pattern Recognition and Machine Intelligence Association (PREMIA), which is an affiliated member of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), is giving out the Best Student Paper Awards for papers published in 2011. There are two categories of prizes:
Gold Prizes, each with cash prize of S$1000.00, and
Silver Prizes, each with cash prize of S$500.00.
The paper must have been published (including online publications) between 1 January and 31 December 2011. The main author of the paper must be a registered student (full-time or part-time) from one of the tertiary education institutions in Singapore at the time of submitting the paper for publication, and must report work done while the author was a student in Singapore. The closing date for entries is 12 January 2012.
Eligibility
The main author must be an active PREMIA member (full member or student member), and a registered student (full-time or part-time) at one of the tertiary education institutions in Singapore at the time of submitting the paper for publication, and must report work done while the author was a student in Singapore. If his/her membership has been expired, he/she must renew his/her membership to be eligible for this award. If he/she is not yet a PREMIA member, he/she must apply for PREMIA membership in order to be eligible for this award.
The paper must be published between 1 January 2011 and 31 December 2011. The paper must address a topic of relevance to PREMIA. Relevant topics include but not limited to pattern recognition and machine intelligence in applied domains including computer vision, image processing, speech analysis, robotics, multimedia, document analysis, character recognition, knowledge engineering, fractal analysis and intelligent control, involving methods including statistical techniques, neural networks, evolutionary programming, fuzzy logic, machine learning and hardware implementation. The decision of the award committee is final.
Submission Instructions
1. Complete the entry form attached and compile the form with the following three attachments as ONE single PDF file
(1) Copy of the paper as published;
(2) A copy of the acceptance letter and all reviewers’ comments received prior to publication;
(3) A supporting statement from your academic supervisor and co-author(s), if any.
2. Submission will be via email. Please email the single PDF file to Dr Zhou Jiayin at jzhou@i2r.a-star.edu.sg. You are strongly encouraged to limit the submission file within 5 MB. The closing date for entries is 12 January 2012.
3. Only one submission per candidate is allowed. The results will be announced and the Awards will be presented at the PREMIA Member's Night in early February 2012. All candidates are required to attend the PREMIA Member’s Night for the awards ceremony.
