To celebrate the coming of Chinese New Year, the Year of Rabbit, PREMIA is holding its Members’ Night on the 14th day of the Chinese New Year, i.e. on 16 February 2011 (Wednesday), in Seminar Room 2&3, Level 2, NUS Shaw Foundation Alumni House, 11 Kent Ridge Drive (Singapore 119244). We will have a talk by Dr Gang WANG on “How does the internet benefit computer vision?”. Details of the talk is attached in this email. Dr. WANG is a Research Scientist at the Advanced Digital Science Center and an Assistant Professor at the Nanyang Technological University. He received his Bachelor's degree from the Harbin Institute of Technology in 2005, and Ph.D. degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2010. His research interests include computer vision and machine learning, specifically on high level image and video understanding. He is a recipient of the Harriett & Robert Perry fellowship and the CS/AI award at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
There will be a buffet meal for the night, and the speaker, Dr WANG will stay on with us for more interaction. We will include some vegetarian food in the buffet. On top of the excitement, each participant (member or non-member) will have a chance in the sure-win Hong Bao Lucky Draw. Each Hong Bao contains $10 cash and a POPULAR voucher ranging from $10 to $50. There is however, a registration fee of $10 for each member. Each member may also bring one non-member guest by paying a $30 registration for the guest. We will also announce the winners of the 2010 Best Student Paper Awards at the Members’ Night.Please note that the number of participants for the night is limited to 60 due to the space constraint.
