PREMIA – Best Student Paper in 2010 Award |

The Pattern Recognition and Machine Intelligence Association (PREMIA), which is the Singapore member association of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), is offering two Best Student Paper awards for papers published in 2010
First Prize S$1000.00
Second Prize S$500.00
The paper must have been published (including online publications) between 1 January and 31 December 2010
The main author must have been a registered student (full-time or part-time) at one of the tertiary education institutions in Singapore at the time of submitting the paper for publication, and must report work done while the author was a student in Singapore. The closing date for entries is 20 January 2011.
Eligibility
The main author must be a PERMIA member (full or student), and a registered student (full-time or part-time) at one of the tertiary education institutions in Singapore at the time of submitting the paper for publication, and must report work done while the author was a student in Singapore. If he/she is not yet a PREMIA member, he/she must apply for PREMIA membership in order to be eligible for this award.
The paper must be published between 1 January 2010 and 31 December 2010. The paper must address a topic of relevance to PREMIA. Relevant topics are pattern recognition and machine intelligence in applied domains including computer vision, image processing, speech analysis, robotics, multimedia, document analysis, character recognition, knowledge engineering, fractal analysis and intelligent control, involving methods including statistical techniques, neural networks, evolutionary programming, fuzzy logic, machine learning and hardware implementation.
Submission Instructions
1. Log into PREMIA's website using your web account (New members please register and make the payment first)
2. Go to Downloads (in the left panel on PREMIA homepage) -> Best Student Papers -> Forms to download the entry form.
3. Complete the entry form along with the following three attachments as a single pdf file before 20 January 2011
(1) Copy of the paper as published.
(2) A copy of the acceptance letter and all reviewers’ comments received prior to publication.
(3) A supporting statement from your academic supervisor and co-author(s), if any.
4. Both email and online submission are accepted. For email submission, please email to Prof. Andrzej Sluzek at ASSLUZEK@ntu.edu.sg. For online submission, please go to the "Submit Document" menu on the left hand side panel after you log into PREMIA's website. Please make sure to complete the four steps and upload your file to the "Best Student Paper" category as being acquired in the second step. (URLs are optional). You may check your submission through the "Downloads" Menu and browse under the "Best Student Paper" directory. You may also update your entry but please choose a different name when uploading. If your file exceeds 2M, please opt for email submission.
5. Only one submission per student is allowed. The results will be announced in February 2011 and the Prizes will be awarded at the PREMIA Member's Night (or another PREMIA-organized event) in February 2011.
