Position Title: University Relations Manager for Southeast Asia (CS position)
Reporting to: Director of University Relations, Microsoft Research Asia
Working location: Based in Singapore with periodic travel among MSRA Beijing and universities Singapore and other Southeast Asian countries.



Primary Responsibilities:

Join the Microsoft Research Asia University Relations team and make an impact on the future computer scientists and engineers in Southeast Asia. As a University Relations Manager, you will be responsible for
• Cultivating long-term in-depth partnerships with deans, faculties, researchers, and students at the best computer science research and engineering departments in the top universities and research institutes in Singapore. Implementing regional programs in Singapore.
• Exploring opportunities for top students in CS, EE, applied math, and other related areas in the universities in Southeast Asia and to design and to implement programs that provide these student opportunities to work with Microsoft.
• Developing and implementing business plans, responsible for budget, payments, and other business and legal procedures.
• Working effectively with a virtual team in the subsidiaries consisting of Academic Development Evangelists, Public Sector, HR for campus recruiting, LCA, and General Managers to leverage resources and market opportunities. Be able to work with the local 3rd party vendors, if needed.
• Organizing and supporting UR events. Be able to present overviews of Microsoft Research and the academic programs.

Qualifications:

The position requires
- Excellent relationship building and communication skills. Ability to identify and to create win/win situations which will benefit both academic partners and Microsoft.
- Ability to work independently and proactively. Effective in achieving results through individual and cross team efforts. Demonstrated ability to handle business operations and to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- In-depth understanding of hi-education in Singapore and Southeast Asian countries especially the knowledge on the most influential universities in these countries.
- Strong presentation, project management and business/development skills are essential.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
- Good working knowledge of MS products and technologies.
- Travel required. A passport holder who can travel to China, US, and the Southeast Asian countries easily.
- 5 years of relevant working experience. Experience in university teaching and research is a plus.
- A BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, MIS or related discipline is required; A master or Ph.D. degree in computer science or related areas is a plus.
