Wednesday, 27 February 2008
A postdoctoral position for data mining and statistical analysis on Fluorescence Fluctuation Spectroscopy (FFS) is open. FFS is a method where light signal from a single point of a biological sample (usually a cell) is collected and analyzed. Biological inference is achieved through the correlation of the time series of light signal at the point of interest.

The job scope includes:
(1) Develop new statistical methods to fit the FFS data
(2) Compare different fit for statistical significance
(3) Make suggestions about the best model to describe the experiment
(4) Some machine learning techniques may be used
(5) Technical aspects for integrating the software to the microscope hardware
(6) Publish good papers in statistics

The funding will last for 3 years and start around April 2008.
Requirements for this job are:
(1) Strong in statistics and probability theory, e.g. Bayesian statistics
(2) Strong in programming and willing to learn new programming languages
(3) Able to learn how to integrate software to the microscope hardware

Interested applicants please send a CV to Dr. Lee Hwee Kuan leehk@bii.a-star.edu.sg.
