PREMIA – Best Student Paper in 2007 Award

The Pattern Recognition and Machine Intelligence Association (PREMIA), affiliated to the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), is offering two Best Student Paper awards for papers published in 2007.

First Prize S$1000.00

Second Prize S$500.00

The closing date for entries is 7 January 2008.

Submissions will be judged by a selection panel appointed by the PREMIA Board. The decisions of the selection panel are final.

The results will be announced in February 2008 and the Prizes will be awarded at the PREMIA Member's Night in February 2008.

Eligibility

  1. The main author must have been a registered student (full-time or part-time) at one of the tertiary education institutions in Singapore at the time of submitting the paper for publication, and must report work done while the author was a student in Singapore.

  2. The paper must have been published between 1 January 2007 and 31 December 2007. The student author must be a current Student Member or Full Member of PREMIA. If the author is not a current member of PREMIA, he/she may apply for Student/Full Membership together with the paper submission. The $15 entrance fee will be waived in this instance, and only the annual subscription fee ($10 for student and $20 for full member) needs to be paid.   3. The paper must address a topic of relevance to PREMIA. Relevant topics are pattern recognition and machine intelligence in applied domains including computer vision, image processing, speech analysis, robotics, multimedia, document analysis, character recognition, knowledge engineering, fractal analysis and intelligent control, involving methods including statistical techniques, neural networks, evolutionary programming, fuzzy logic, machine learning and hardware implementation.

Submission Instructions

  1. Log into PREMIA's website using your web account (New members please register and pay the annual fee first)

  2. Download the entry form by following the "Downloads" menu and browsing the "Best Student Paper" directory.

  3. Prepare a completed entry form along with the following three attachments as a single pdf file before 7 January 2007
    • Copy of the paper as published.
    • A copy of the acceptance letter and all reviewers’ comments received prior to publication.
    • A supporting statement from your academic supervisor and co-author(s), if any.

  4. Submit your entry through the "Submit Document" menu on the left hand side panel after you log into PREMIA's website. Please make sure to complete the four steps and upload your file to the "Best Student Paper" category as being acquired in the second step. (URLs are optional)

  5. You may check your submission through the "Downloads" Menu and browsing under the "Best Student Paper" directory. You may also update your entry but please choose a different name when uploading.

  6. Only one submission per student is allowed.
