Asia-Pacific Workshop on Visual Information Processing 2005 (VIP2005) is to be held on 11 - 12 December 2005 at City University of Hong Kong.
Call for PapersIn the last a number of years, we have witnessed the rapid development of several key technological areas, such as the Internet and mobile devices, which make large scale use of visual information. There is a growing need to efficiently capture, transform, analyse, manipulate, synthesise, visualise, store, and retrieve image and video data in a wide spectrum of applications. Future information systems in commercial and scientific applications will have a high visual content, and it is necessary to address various aspects of visual information processing. This workshop is the continuation of Pan-Sydney Area Workshop on Visual Information Processing, which is held every year since 1995. With strong support from the Hong Kong Chapter of the IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernectics Society, we extend the workshop to the Asia-Pacific region this year. The workshop will provide a forum for researchers, including postgraduate students, to discuss their recent work and exchange research ideas. We invite papers on the following and related topics: - Image Processing: gathering, editing, coding, transformation, restoration, filtering, enhancement.
- Medical Imaging: feature extraction, segmentation, reconstruction, image analysis, tele-medicine.
- Multimedia: image and video indexing and retrieval, tele-conferencing, compression, interactive video, CAD, authoring, sematic annotation, applications.
- Visualisation: visual representation, modelling and reconstruction, scientific visualisation, data visualisation, visualisation of data mining results and the knowledge discovery process, interactive exploration, virtual reality.
- Computer Graphics: computational geometry, surface rendering, volume rendering, modelling, animation, GUI and HCI.
- Pattern Recognition: statistical and syntactic pattern recognition, neural networks, learning algorithms, handwriting recognition, document analysis, DNA data analysis and classification.
- Computer Vision: real-time imaging, robot vision, object tracking, automatic inspection, remote control and sensing.
