ImageIt is our pleasure to announce the first PREMIA AGM. It will be held on Saturday 14 Aug 2004, 10AM, at Nanyang Technological University. The PREMIA Protem committee has organized a talk by Prof Lee Chin Hui at the same venue. The AGM will be conducted after the talk.

Update 01/08/2004: The venue is confirmed, read more to get the details.

The talk and the AGM will be held in Lecture Theatre 5 of National Technological University. Lecture Theatre 5 is located on Level 2 of the North Spine at NTU, immediately opposite the main entrance to the School of Computer Engineering. For location map, visit here. The details of the talk are available via http://www.premia-sg.org/index.php?option=com_events&task=showevent&event_id=1.

The Protem committee would like to invite you to nominate suitable candidates for the office bearers to take over the responsibilities of the Protem committee for the next two years (Aug 04 - July 06). 8 board members (including the president, vice-president and general board members) will be elected. In addition, 2 auditors will also be elected.

Please read the following for issues related to the nomination and election process:

1. Office bearers (i.e. president, vice-president and general board members) must be nominated and elected through proposal (i.e. nomination), secondment, and consent.

2. Self-nomination is allowed, but must be seconded. The nomination and secondment can be done on-line at the PREMIA website, or can be done on the spot during the AGM. To propose/second a candidate online, please login to your Members' Area at the PREMIA web site, and find the corresponding link on the home page of the Members' Area.

3. The candidate needs to give an explicit consent before or during the AGM for the nomination and secondment to be effective. Candidates who receive online nomination will be notified through email. The email notification contains the instructions on how to feedback your consent of the nomination.

4. To facilitate the online nomination process, you are highly encouraged to update your Membership Profile online through the Members' Area. This includes your recent photo, contact address, biography, research interests etc.

5. The voting will be conducted during the AGM, in two stages. The first stage is for the election of president and vice-president. The second stage is for the election of the general board members.

6. Only Singapore citizens or permanent residents are eligible to be president or vice-president. There will not be any nomination for the vice-president position. The candidates who win the highest and second highest number of votes for the presidential nomination will be the president and vice-president respectively. For the other presidential candidates, they will be automatically included in the general board member election that will come next.

7. All full-members are eligible to run for general board members.

8. All full-members are eligible to vote for the president, vice-president and general members.

9. The maximum number of committee members comprising the president, vice-president and general board members is 8.

10. There will also be an election for 2 auditors. The nomination and election will be conducted during the AGM.

11. Voting by proxy is allowed.

If you have any suggestions in the meantime, please feel free to email to protem@premia-sg.org .

Thank you, and see you at the AGM!
