2. Support from Lee Foundation

================================

We would like to thank Lee Foundation's generous support which is much needed for our initial set up.

================================

3. Updates on the Website

================================

The PREMIA website is kept updated to serve you better. With the success of the online registration and online receipt services, we are glad to announce the Society Yellow Pages. The yellow pages list the contact information of all active members. We would like to ask you to update your membership profile to facilitate the correspondence in the society. Your profile is editable in the Members' Area. In addition, a mailing list members@premia-sg.org is created. Your email sent to this address will be read by all society members. To get more information on this mailing list, just send a blank email to members-help@premia-sg.org.

4. First AGM and Election for Board Officials

================================

We would also like to inform you of the first AGM which will be held on 14 August morning (Saturday) at NTU. Further details will be announced nearer the date. Meanwhile, please mark the date on your diary. In this AGM, the first Board officials will be elected and we would like to urge you to nominate candidates for election. Further details on the nomination procedure on our website will be announced about two weeks before the AGM. The election is an important event for the Society and we seek your help to build a strong team of officials for the Board to direct the course of the Society in the next two years.

5. Upcoming Activities

================================

With the new Board officially formed after the AGM, a series of activities will ensue. This will include seminar talks for our members by eminent scientists and researchers in the field of pattern recognition and machine intelligence. Pattern Recognition software competition with attractive prizes is also being considered. A half-day or full-day workshop with contributions from the academics and the industry will be organized in future. We may also look into the possibility of bidding for the hosting of ICPR2010 (International Conference on Pattern Recognition) in Singapore. In the forthcoming AGM, we would also like to invite members to give suggestions and offer their help in organizing future events and activities for the Society.

6. Suggestions on the Society Constitution

================================

Another important thing that you could help is to suggest improvements or changes to our Constitution. The current Constitution was drafted by the present Protem Committee and approved by the Registrar of Societies. If you see any areas for revision to better suit the interests of our members, please feel free to propose amendments. AGM is the only time that we can make changes to the Constitution which will also require approval of the Registrar of Societies after the AGM passes the resolution for changes. In order to pass the resolution, the AGM must have sufficient quorom. We would thus like to urge you to make an effort to attend the AGM. Please download our Constitution from our website to make any suggestion for discussion in the AGM.

If you have any suggestions in the meantime, please feel free to email to protem@premia-sg.org or give your views to other society members at members@premia-sg.org.

See you at the AGM!
